Frequently Asked Questions
Choose by the feeling you want to create. Ashbourne brings crisp citrus brightness for fresh, open spaces. Mayfair adds soft floral warmth for bedrooms, bathrooms and everyday living areas. Montclair is deeper and more grounded, suited to quiet rooms and evening atmosphere. Nocturne is warm, spiced and inviting, ideal for cosy corners, bedrooms and rooms used after dark.
Choose a candle when you want a focused fragrance moment, such as an evening wind-down, bath routine or quiet reset. Choose a reed diffuser when you want a more continuous background scent without a flame. Many people use both: a diffuser for everyday atmosphere, and a candle when they want to make the room feel more intentional.
The current Briscoes-listed candles are presented in a glass vessel and made with a soy wax blend and fragrance. They are designed for gentle room fragrance and everyday atmosphere.
The current Briscoes-listed diffusers include a glass vessel, fragrance fluid and six natural reed sticks. The reeds absorb the fragrance oil and slowly release scent into the room.
Place fragrance on a stable, level surface away from draughts, direct sunlight, heat sources, curtains, bedding and delicate finishes. For diffusers, use a coaster or protective tray, especially on timber, painted, stone or lacquered surfaces.
Fragrance strength depends on the room size, airflow, temperature and how many reeds are used. Smaller rooms will usually hold scent more easily. For a softer diffuser scent, use fewer reeds or turn them less often. For a stronger scent, use all reeds and turn them occasionally.

Care
To enjoy your candle safely and help it burn evenly, always read the packaging instructions before use.
- Place the candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface before lighting.
- Keep away from curtains, bedding, paper, draughts, pets and children.
- Trim the wick to approximately 5mm before each burn.
- On the first burn, allow the wax surface to melt evenly across the top where possible. This helps reduce tunnelling.
- Do not burn for more than 4 hours at a time, unless the product packaging states otherwise.
- Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- Keep the wax pool clear of wick trimmings, matches and debris.
- Stop using the candle when approximately 10mm of wax remains at the base of the vessel.
- Allow the vessel to cool completely before handling, moving or replacing the lid.
- Extinguish carefully. Do not use water to put out a candle.
A reed diffuser gives a steady background scent and should be handled with care.
- Place the diffuser on a stable, level surface away from heat, flames, direct sunlight, children and pets.
- Use a coaster, tray or protective base under the vessel to help protect furniture.
- Insert the reeds into the fragrance fluid and allow them to absorb the scent.
- Turn reeds occasionally to refresh the fragrance. Turn less often for a softer scent, or more often for a stronger scent.
- Use a tissue or gloves when turning reeds, and wash hands after handling.
- Avoid contact between diffuser fluid and polished, painted, lacquered, plastic, stone or fabric surfaces. Wipe spills immediately.
- Do not light the reeds. Reed diffusers are not candles and should never be exposed to flame.
- Do not ingest diffuser fluid or use it on skin.
- Replace reeds if they become dusty or saturated and the scent is no longer diffusing well.
- Store unused candles and diffusers in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Keep products upright and securely closed before use.
- Dispose of empty vessels and packaging according to local recycling or waste guidance.
- Always follow the safety information supplied on the product packaging.
